Priestnall School is a popular, over-subscribed 11-16 school situated in the pleasant residential area of Heaton Mersey, Stockport. Our community benefits from wonderful students and a hardworking and committed staff team.
We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Curriculum Leader to join our English team. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in helping to move the English department to the next stage in its development.
You will play a leading and highly visible role in raising standards within the department and the academic success of all students, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning and achievement across the key stages. A core aspect of the role will involve leading the monitoring, evaluation and review of provision and standards in English.
The ideal candidate will:
- Plan and deliver high quality and engaging lessons that will challenge students and inspire progression
- Have the ability to lead, inspire and motivate students in the subject
- Be a positive role model and supportive mentor to students
- Demonstrate a commitment to achieving the highest possible academic standards
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, consult and discuss
- Have the ability to lead and drive innovation in English, making significant contributions to the department’s development priorities and associated departmental processes
- Improving the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum in the subject area
- Show a willingness to be visible and act as a high-profile ambassador for the English department and school
- Have the ability to manage change successfully
- Have excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Be highly efficient, with excellent time management skills
