Film Studies
Within Film Studies we will be addressing one of the most powerful and influential medium of the Twentieth and Twenty First Century, and exploring developing a critical and analytical understanding of how Film as an artform has both reflects and directs society itself. In order to do this, we will be approaching films from two perspectives. On one hand, we will be covering the technological and institutional aspects of the film industry, focussing on the manner in which advances in technology has enabled film-makers and studios to produce ever-more ambitious concepts. An even greater emphasis will be placed upon the ideological and sociological concepts under-pinning the films: we will be looking at some of the social and historical contexts, the reasons for the film existing and the impact that this is intended to have upon the target demographic.
