Modern Foreign Languages
Learning a foreign language is a liberation from insularity and provides an opening to other cultures. We want our Language learners to be curious to understand the wider world. Language learning at Priestnall enables pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond. We teach new ways of thinking and provide a solid foundation for learning further languages in the future which equips pupils to study and work in many other countries. We encourage students to look beyond Stockport and appreciate the different languages, cultures and traditions of other countries. We aim to inspire our students to accept others by learning about the interesting and diverse ways that other people live and communicate. We wish to ignite fires and our curriculum aims to inspire students to become confident linguists, enjoying both being able to understand spoken and written language themselves and also being able to speak and write to a high level. We provide a valuable and enjoyable learning experience with a view to creating linguists of the future. We strive to welcome learners into our classrooms to both enjoy and succeed. We aim high for all learners – sans exception!
