International Visitors!

Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia visit Priestnall

On Wednesday of this week we were delighted to welcome representatives from the Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia to Priestnall. The purpose of the visit was to share excellent practice from the educational systems of both countries and for the delegates to gain first-hand experience of life in a UK school from the perspective of staff and students.

Our visitors met with senior members of staff and enjoyed a tour of the school. They will also be visiting other schools in the North West before returning to Saudi Arabia later this week.

Year 7 Residential Visit November 2018

We are proposing to run a Year 7 residential trip from Monday 19th November 2018 to Tuesday 20th November 2018 to the Conway Centre in Anglesey Wales.  The trip will be open to all students joining us in Year 7 in September 2018 and is designed to assist with the transition from Primary School to Secondary School.  Students will have the opportunity to get to know other pupils and staff and to take part in activities that they could not do in school.

The trip will depart on Monday 19th November.  Pupils will travel by coach and arrive at the Conway Centre at midday. The Conway Centre is an Outdoor Adventure site that can provide all students with different learning experiences focussing on different skills. Pupils will be staying at the centre before returning to school on Tuesday evening.

Year 11 Curriculum Information Evening

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to invite you to our Year 11 Curriculum Information Evening which is taking place on Thursday 13th September 2018 starting at 6:00pm in the main hall. The aim of the evening is to give you an overview of this crucial year for your child and to provide you with advice on supporting them to maximise their potential in their GCSE courses. Information will also be provided on Post 16 Choices and the changes happening in Further Education. We anticipate that the evening will end at around 7:00 pm.

We would strongly encourage you to attend this event, as our joint working is vital in ensuring the success of all of our young people. You may have had older children through the school, however, the GCSE curriculum and assessment have undergone very significant changes in recent years.

As space is limited, we would ask please that numbers are limited to no more than two family members attending.

Parking is available in the Recreation Centre and also in the staff car park – please follow the signs near the school’s main reception. We respectfully ask those arriving by car to be mindful of our local residents and ensure that the driveways on our nearby roads are kept clear.

We look forward to seeing you.

Yours faithfully,

Mr J Cregg
Headteacher

August 2018 – Outstanding GCSE Results!

GCSE Results Day 2018

Congratulations to the students from our Class of 2018 who have achieved outstanding results in their GCSE examinations.

As a year group, 80% of our young people gained a ‘Standard’ pass (Grades 4 and above) in both English & Maths, and 58% attained a ‘Strong’ pass (Grades 5 and above) in these core subjects. This represents a fantastic overall achievement by our students.

We also saw excellent results across the wide range of subject areas we offer as a school – more details of these will be published shortly.

Once again, huge congratulations to our students whose hard work and dedication have been rewarded by these superb outcomes. Many thanks also to our parents & carers, staff and governors for the support they have given to the young people during their time at Priestnall. We offer our best wishes to all our Leavers as they now begin the next step of their journey!
